Abstract
A survey was conducted of 61 second-year students of the Pediatric Faculty of the N. I. Pirogov Federal State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation aged 19–20 years to determine the basic difficulties in mastering the skills of general examination and mainly used teaching methods. One of the directions of the survey was the evaluation of promising methods for studying practical skills. The survey revealed that all the skills of this section of the course of propaedeutics of internal diseases turned out to be difficult for students. Inspection skills turned out to be the simplest — only a quarter of respondents noted the complexity of mastering them. To study the material and skills, self-preparation by traditional methods was most often used. Practice on healthy volunteers and individual work with a teacher were recognized as effective and promising ways of studying the material.
