Abstract
The articles of domestic and foreign authors, focused on antibiotic prophylaxis of endocarditis during therapeutic invasive interventions in patients with the highest risk of developing this pathology, were analyzed by a survey-analytical method. The article presents a brief review of typical etiology and pathogenesis of bacterial endocarditis, predisposing factors of its occurrence. Analysis of the results showed that among the variety of existing antibiotics aminopenicillins, inhibitor- protected penicillins, lincosamides are the drugs of choice for the prevention of endocarditis. The data accumulated suggest that antibiotic prophylaxis helps prevent the development of infective endocarditis.
